Playing gooseberry

Today I (carefully, ouch!) picked our first crop of gooseberries from the two bushes we planted last year. A thorny task but worth it.
The red berries were outnumbered but are ripe and ready to eat raw and will add a sweet-tart note to my overnight oats this week.
The green berries will be cooked very gently with a touch of sweetener and enjoyed as a low syn treat.
Here is our first gooseberry harvest modelled by my glamorous assistant.
