169/365 Today I …went for a picnic

Today I…went for a picnic after work. I met my friends from Uni – Eve, Cathy and Julie – in Stratford-upon-Avon and we sat in the park next to the river to enjoy our feast. Luckily, the weather was very kind.  After a couple of showery days, this evening was sunny and warm until quite late.

This was our last meeting before graduation and we were celebrating with a glass of fizz and some brilliant felt mortar boards that Eve found in the fancy dress shop. We wore them all evening and tried to get a photo where we threw them in the air- no luck!

Our picnic was lovely – dips and olives, quiche, coronation chicken and salads-  followed by mini puddings and cakes. We were too stuffed to get round to the cheese and biscuits.  As the sun went down, we retired to a nearby hotel and sat on the terrace with a cup of tea, still proudly wearing our (fake) mortar boards. A lovely American couple chatted to us about graduating and asked to take our photo- I think everything in Stratford-upon-Avon is a tourist attraction, including four mad middle aged women! They promised to e mail the photo to me. In the meantime, we took a few of our own:

I drove home in my hat and only took it off when I got in about half an hour ago!

Proper grad pictures next week- eek!!
