138/365 Today I…planted a rainbow

Today I…have been planting cabbages.

The vegetable plot next to mine was not being used so I have adopted it for this season to keep the ground cultivated. Martin forked it over this afternoon and added some soil improver to give the crop a boost, then we planted some purple sprouting broccoli, two rows of mixed cabbages [red, white and green], two courgettes and a butternut squash. Hey! We planted a rainbow!

We bought the plants from a local independent, family run, nursery called Cotefield Nurseries.  They have a very good selection of vegetable and herb plants, in good condition and excellent value for money. Fingers crossed for a good crop!

We also planted some parsley next to the carrot plants as I read somewhere that the parsley distracts the dreaded carrot fly.

The runner beans are coming along nicely- definite signs of growth:

I will keep you posted 🙂
